THE EBRO BATTLE
“A la terra solcada de trinxeres,
on la flor blava i dolça de l'espígol
les abelles anava convocant:
Allí quedaven els soldats vençuts”
Pàndols (Gerard Vergés)
In recent years, the Tierras del Ebro region has revived the tourism linked to historical memory. The different interpretation centers of the Ebro Battle, located in the region of Terra Alta, one of the most affected by the battles of the Spanish Civil War between July and November 1938, offer an overview on different aspects of life in the trenches. The tourist offer linked to this war episode includes the ghost town of Corbera d'Ebre devastated by the German Legion Cóndor and Italian aviation, or Cota 402, a place with magnificent views occupied at the time by the Republican troops. Many of these guided routes appear recently linked to the enotourism, increasingly developed in the region..
