The “Lonja” (Market) of was built in the middle of 14th century on the left bank of the Ebro river, near the current “Plaza de la Paz”, next to the municipal market. It is a warehouse for goods that, very soon, became a point of business and contracting and an exponent of the commercial importance of the city. In the middle of the 17th century, part of the building became a military arsenal and finally, in 1716 ceased to function as a trading center.
In 1933, the “Lonja” was moved, stone by stone, to the modernist gardens of Teodor González Park, a place where it can still be visited today.
