The suspension bridge of Amposta has become one of the most representative architectural symbols of the city. Built in 1915, it represented a remarkable improvement in communications between the towns of the Ebro Delta, since it was the first permanent means to cross the river in its lower section. The bridge stands out for the two great stone pilasters that in form of arc of triumph are erected to each one of the sides of the river. The structure of the bridge, supported by cables, was an innovative engineering work at the time it was built.
