“Lo Parot” is an ancient olive tree located on the outskirts of Horta de Sant Joan (Terra Alta). It has been declared a monumental tree and has an 8 meter high and a trunk perimeter of 15 m. Citizens claim that it is the oldest tree in Catalonia, with 2,000 years. It is an olive tree (Olea europeae) of an unknown variety today, characterized by having the leaves and the fruit somewhat more elongated than the variety denominated Empeltre, cultivated traditionally in the region.
