Pablo Picasso immortalized the mountain of Santa Bàrbara in some of the paintings he painted during one of his stays in Horta de Sant Joan. Precisely, at the foot of this hill, located two kilometres from Horta de Sant Joan, we find the imposing convent of Sant Salvador de Horta.
The construction of the church goes back to the time of the Templars. The complex is complemented by a Renaissance cloister and a group of buildings of different chronologies (13th – 17th century). The convent was inhabited by an important Franciscan community and during the sixteenth century Fray Salvador remained there; he worked great miracles.
