The Iberian site of “Coll del Moro de Gandesa” is situated on top of a hill from where you can see much of the region of Terra Alta, the highlands. A tower of elliptical form that formed part of the defensive structure of the village stands out. The findings appeared during the archaeological surveys suggest that the nucleus was founded in the 6th century B.C. Likewise, the numerous remains of Phoenician and Greek pottery found confirm the links between the Iberians and the ancient civilizations of the Mediterranean.

The village was abandoned in the 1st century A.D. coinciding with the consolidation of the Roman power in these lands.
