Els Barrancs
“Salida de los Barrancs”, in the municipal term of Vilalba dels Arcs, is one of the spaces of the Ebro Battle prepared for visits. Remains of the trench built by the republican forces in 1938 between this population and that of Pobla de Massaluca are preserved.
It consists of about 700 meters of ditch, between 150 and 180 centimetres deep, with different elements: shooter pits, shelters and evacuation lines. The stone parapet stretches have been restored and the atmosphere of the time has been recreated with earthen sacks used to protect the fighters and allow shooting from a dominant position.
You can also see the shooter shafts, where soldiers with automatic weapons and hand grenades, covered the front and made the attack difficult.
