“El Fangar” is a peninsula that enters in the sea to the north of the mouth of the Ebro, in front of Fangar Bay. It is an extensive coastal line that includes the best constructed sand and dune system of the Delta. From the point of view of fauna, the most outstanding aspect is the importance of the area for the breeding of marine birds. It is also of considerable importance as a refuge and feeding area for migratory aquatic bird species. The peninsula is about 6 km long and 3 km wide, until reaching its end, which is called “Punta del Fangar” (Fangar Tip). It is at this time (coinciding with the nesting season) when it hosts a large number of seabird colonies that can be easily observed from the observatories to the left of the access tracks.
