The historical centre of Tivissa, in the Ribera d'Ebre region, still retains the structure of the old town plan surrounded by a walled enclosure. A walk through the narrow and steep streets allows discovering interesting buildings such as the Portal de l'Era, the Portal d'Avall, l'Hostal or the remains of the walls. The parochial church of Sant Jaume, of Renaissance style, that contains in the interior a part of an old Gothic church, stands out. An excursion to the Iberian settlement of Castellet de Banyoles or to the cave paintings of the Font de la Vilella can be a good complement to the walk through the old town of Tivissa.
