THE SIEGE OF TORTOSA
The town relives the last days of the Siege of Tortosa in which parades of troops and the smell of gunpowder fill the streets to recreate one of the most decisive periods in the history of Catalonia: the Spanish War of Succession.
Experience in person the final battle that ended one of the most brutal sieges of the past; visit the camp of Els Miquelets (an irregular Catalan militia) to see what day-to-day life was like in a town under siege; and discover the fortifications of Tortosa guided by those who defended them.
The Miquelets of Catalonia re-enactment group and the Spanish Friends of Castles Association organise the events that combine historical re-enactment and the dissemination of history with the town of Tortosa as a scenic setting.
