Ruta caiac i bicicleta delta ebre

FROM GREEN TO BLUE (RUTA COMBINADA)

We start off at the Riu a l'Ebre jetty to board a kayak for the first part of our adventure. From the vantage point of the boats the majestic River Ebro in its final stage is ours to appreciate, as is the characteristic riverbank vegetation and indigenous fauna. Once absorbed in the experience of this quite unique landscape we will turn right into the “Migjorn”, much narrower than the river itself but well worth sailing along.

Throughout the trip the Island of “Buda” is on our left, a wonderful wild island, as much a part of the land as of the sea, and home to a wild breed of horse from the Camarga region of France. At the end of this, greenest of waterways, once we arrive at the sea, the fresh river water is within metres of the deep blue of the Mediterranean sea.

We down our oars and get on bikes for the return trip, riding beside the canal and road until we reach an unmade up lane off to the right, just before a bend. Crossing over the canal and going round to the right takes us to the start of the pathway “Camí de Sirga”.

Now that we are riding along it, between wooden fence posts, we can’t get lost and are free to enjoy the way back through bordering woodland and rice fields.
