Les Terres de l’Ebre are Biosphere Reserve full of natural treasures of the greatest ecological interest and two protected ecosystems that are unique in the Mediterranean: the Ebro Delta and Els Ports Natural Parks. The region offers an extensive network of interconnected footpaths that allow you discover countless treasures of nature that have been preserved for your enjoyment.
The Terres de l’Ebre has one of the best preserved historical coastal footpaths (camins de ronda) in Catalonia; the “Southern Stars” itinerary is a magnificent way of getting to know Els Ports Mountains; and there are one-day circular walks to give you a taste of everything the “Lands of the Ebro” have to offer. We’ll tell you all about it here.
Paths that skirt vineyards, woods, thousand-year-old olive groves, rice fields and vast uncrowded beaches, as well as a rich cultural heritage and superb local gastronomy. These are just some of the ingredients you can add to your memorable itineraries.
This proposal leads you to discover one of the natural treasures of Terres de l'Ebre: La Teixeda de Cosp, possibly the oldest forest in Catalonia, has more than 272 specimens of yews, among which stands out the Teix Pare, a monumental tree that gives its name to the fountain right in front of it.
This route is a clear example of the awesomeness of the nature out of the known zones. In this little corner of the world you will find beeches, yews, black pines, boxwoods, hollies, hazels, white beams and wild pines. All this, a few kilometres from the Mediterranean Sea.
