The wines with Terra Alta denomination are the most southern of Catalunya. It is believed that it was the Order of the Templars who began the elaboration in the 12th century. Its cultivation is characteristic, since it is made on terraces of strong, deep and not too permeable lands, and, on the other hand, its vines are pruned very short to obtain satin style and to take advantage of the humidity of the land. The Terra Alta D.O. includes white wines of the `White Grenache ´ and `Macabeo´ varieties, potent and light, high graduation and lots of body; structured red wines with personality, and sweet and stale wines.
