Platja Maricel
Platja Maricel, also spelled de lo Mar-i-cel, in Alcanar, the southernmost municipality of the Terres de l'Ebre, is a beach of more than a kilometre long by 20 m wide. It is protected by a breakwater and its location and facilities make it ideal and very popular with families. Located between Cases d’Alcanar and Alcanar Platja, specifically in the area known as Les Oliveres, right opposite the N-340 main road, Maricel Beach is made up of small pebbles combined with fine golden sand and lined with pine trees.
The sands slope gently into the shallow waters, which is much appreciated by families with small children. The sea is calm and the waters are crystal clear. The beach has the 'Blue Flag' quality certificate. Its proximity to the road also means that access and parking are easy.
Maricel Beach also has a wide range of nearby restaurants and bar-restaurants that offer the best of the traditional local and Ebro cuisine, with a special mention for the excellent fish and seafood from this part of the Mediterranean.
Another attraction is that just one kilometre away is the well-known Cases d'Alcanar, where you can still enjoy the traditional atmosphere of a fishing village, as well as a marina with more than 129 moorings.
