Platja Sant Jordi
Sant Jordi Beach, Cala Forn and Cala Vidre are all near the remains of the mediaeval castle of the Order of Sant Jordi d'Alfama, now restored. The beach is also part of the Sant Jordi d'Alfama nature reserve, an area of great scenic and ecological value and outstanding for both for its history and its nature.
The Platja Sant Jordi area has some of the most popular beaches and coves on the entire coastline of L’Ametlla de Mar (northern Terres de l'Ebre). Moreover, the excellent quality of its waters have been recognised by the Blue Flag award.
Some 100 metres long by 70 metres wide, Sant Jordi Beach has fine, golden sand mixed with small pebbles. It offers numerous services including parking, showers, toilets, a bar, a lifeguard and first aid post, and signage.
The seabed is also of great ecological value and offers many attractions for scuba divers and snorkellers.
L’Ametlla de Mar’s 16 kilometres of coastline is made up of pristine beaches and coves of great beauty. The steep profile of the cliffs with their typical Mediterranean vegetation make this sector of the coast a natural area with unique characteristics.
Sant Jordi Beach can be reached by car from the N-340 main road via the Urbanització Sant Jordi d'Alfama residential estate, or from the A-7 motorway Exit 39 (L'Ametlla de Mar).
