It is the largest lagoon in the northern Delta area. Its access to a private observation area allows enjoying the fauna inhabiting it. Different bird types nest in the area, with the wild duck standing out. Until the seventies it was the largest lagoon in the Delta, but the cultivation of rice fields has reduced its area considerably. From October to May, the fishermen of the Sant Pere de Sant Carles de la Ràpita Brotherhood practice the typical fishing ways of the lagoon: the trasmayo, the gánguil and the palangre (longline).
