Cala Forn
Cala Forn is many people’s favourite cove in L’Ametlla de Mar (northern Terres de l'Ebre). They love its crystal clear waters, its fine golden sand, the natural environment that surrounds it...and its special beach bar with exquisite food and service! However, the other beaches and coves of L’Ametlla de Mar also have some of these common denominators.
Like Cala Sant Jordi and Cala Vidre, Cala Forn is near the remains of the 13th-century Castle of the Order of Sant Jordi d'Alfama, now restored.
With a square surface area, some 100 m long by 100 m wide, Cala Forn’s beach slopes gently down to the warm Mediterranean waters. It is perfect for diving or snorkelling to admire the marine fauna. Services include signage, a lifeguard and rescue station, showers, portacabin toilets, litter bins and the aforementioned beach bar.
Another significant aspect of Cala Forn is that it is surrounded by vegetation, mainly pines, giving it a singular scenic beauty, despite being considered a semi-urban cove. This connection with nature is reinforced by several hiking routes along which you can follow the coast and jump from cove to cove and beach to beach.
In the summer you can also rent kayaks to explore its waters and enjoy the coastal scenery from the sea. Pure Mediterranean!
