Cala de l’Illot
Cala de l'Illot, a very small cove some 5 kilometres south of L'Ametlla de Mar, is considered by many to be one of the most attractive coves in southern Catalonia and the Terres de l'Ebre, both for its beauty and its unspoilt natural surroundings.
To reach Cala de l'Illot you need to leave your vehicle on a nearby road and walk about 5 kilometres along trails through pine woods and past cliffs, following the route of the GR-92 Mediterranean long-distance footpath. It is not a difficult walk and can even be made with children. Of course, appropriate footwear is recommended and you need to bring water and food, as there are no services of any kind at the beach.
L'Illot is a small rocky island that can be reached by swimming and, when the tide is low, you can even walk to it. Cala de l'Illot beach is very small, some 30 m long by 30 m wide, with golden sand and stones. It is a space of peace and tranquillity.
