Picampall invites you to take part in the following activities during the second semester of 2017:

9 September

Insects at els Ports Nature Park

Program

10:00 - 12:00 h. Meet, introduction to courses and talk on insects at Els Ports.
12:00 - 20:00 h. Practical session in different parts of Els Ports Nature Park.
Teacher: Pere Luque Luque is a biologist at Terres de l’Ebre Museum as well as co-president of the Odonata in Catalonia Study Group, Oxygastra-GEOC. He is an entomologist who is at present working on his doctoral thesis, about dragonflies in Terres de l’Ebre, he has also carried out studies on this group of insects and butterflies at the Ebro Delta. He has given different conferences on insects at the Ebro Delta as well as courses on Odonata and Lepidoptera

Observations: you will need adequate clothing for the season, correct footwear, binoculars, breakfast, lunch and drinks. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
Theoretical part: The Information Centre at Els Ports Nature Park, Prat de Comte (Centro de Información del Parque Natural de Els Ports, Prat de Comte).
Practical excursion: Different places in Els Ports Nature Park.

Course on “The essential birds at Els Ports and the Delta”

Program:

Saturday 30th September

Meeting point: The P.N. Ports Environmental Education Centre, Alfara de Carles (Centro de Educación Ambiental del P.N. Ports, Alfara de Carles).
Morning
10:00 – 11:30 Theoretical session. Introduction to field ornithology and bird watching.
11:30 – 12:00 Break
12:00-14:00 Introduction to the essential birds at Els Ports and the Ebro Delta.
Tarda
15:30-19:00 Excursion to different places in PN Ports to observe birds

Sunday 1st October

Meeting point: Offices at PN Ebro Delta, Deltebre.
Morning
8:00 Meet at the offices at PN Ebro Delta
8:15 – 13:00 Move to the Canal Vell Biology Station for theoretical and practical session on bird ringing.

Teachers:
Quim Vilagran has a degree in biology from Girona University. During recent years he has participated in various projects related to Catalan ornithology and as well as being a teacher at the Santa Coloma de Farners School of Agriculture and Forestry (Escuela de Capacitación Agraria y Forestal de Santa Coloma).
Jordi Feliu is a technical forestry engineer at Lleida University. He has been responsible for many ringing campaigns in Catalonia as well as being coordinator of ornithological monitoring at Tablas de Daimiel National Park .
