La Passión de Ulldecona

The “Pasión de Ulldecona” (Ulldecona Passion), as we know it today, was first performed in 1955 under the title "The Drama of Jesus" under the direction of its creator Josep Mª Rafí i Poblet, who linked the spiritual fervor through some simple texts, but very valid for the time. Since then, it has consolidated itself as the theatrical spectacle of reference of the Ebro river regions. In 2012, a unique document from 1512 was discovered in the Diocesan archives of Tortosa, certifying that more than 500 years ago, religious representations were celebrated in Ulldecona.
